The Independent Chair of the Jersey Homelessness Strategic Board, Simon Burgess has attended the first meeting of the new Strategic Housing Partnership Board. The SHPB is made up of representatives from across Jersey’s housing sector. Forming the group was one of the key priorities within the Creating Better Homes plan (link), published by the Minister for Housing and Communities in June.
Chaired by the Minister, it brings together community, industry and Government voices for regular collaboration on key housing issues. The first meeting will be used to set the Terms of Reference, discuss modern methods of construction and their impact on Jersey, and to visit the Horizon development in St Helier.
The following organisations have been invited to participate:
Government of Jersey
Representative from Children’s Services
Office of the Children’s Commissioner
Caritas
Citizens’ Advice Jersey
Jersey Homelessness Strategic Board
Andium Homes and Housing Trusts
Jersey Construction Council
Jersey Chamber of Commerce
Jersey Development Company

The Partnership will be supported by the Government of Jersey’s new Strategic Housing and Regeneration team. Deborah Reeve has been appointed as interim Head of Strategic Housing and Regeneration and will lead the creation of the team. The role will take forward the development of housing policy across Government departments, increase support for the coordination and forward planning of housing delivery, and track and report on the delivery of the Creating Better Homes plan.
